According to Alyson Footer at MLB.com, Houston Astros ace Roy Oswalt laughed at questions about his supposed interest in waiving his no-traffic clause. The questions unmistakably came from a new comment on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight show, which hinted that the Astros were dangling Oswalt in dealing talks, and that the rectilinear-hander was nothing loath to waive his no-purchase and sale clause. The New York Yankees were mentioned as the front-runners to earth Oswalt in any quantity too.
Well, it turns out the announce was about a year old. Last year, when the Astros were reeling, Oswalt reported he’d ponder waiving his no-business clause if the Astros approached him about it. He did not define which teams he would be partial in, but the piece notes that the Red Sox, Braves and Cardinals would credible be on his list.
Oswalt had this to say about Peter Gammons’ novel comment on Baseball Tonight, “I don’t apprehend where that came from. I don’t be assured of where he’s acquirement that from. That came out of left tract of land somewhere. I don’t perceive if he just brought it up or if he heard it from somewhere. I don’t understand where he got it.” Houston’s ace is signed through 2011, with a cudgel option for 2012. Catholic manager Ed Wade has no plans to business Oswalt at this duration.
